adjust due to this new millenium's crisis, and with that comes tremendous
opportunities. Opportunities, when taken, will show us a new and better way of
thinking, believing, and behaving so as to solve the problems in our lives,
instead of create them. As we solve more and more the problems that are under
our control, improve the quality of our lives, and lend a helping hand, we will
create a rippling effect that will extend outward to all those with whom we
come in contact with. All of us, together, have the potential of being

"Proactive
people focus their efforts in the Circle of Influence. They work on the things
they can do something about. The nature of their energy is positive, enlarging
and magnifying, causing their Circle of Influence to increase.
Reactive
people on the other hand, focus their efforts in the Circle of Concern. They
focus on the weakness of other people, the problems in the environment, and
circumstances over which they have no control. Their focus results in blaming
and accusing attitudes, reactive language, and increased feelings of
victimization. The negative energy generated by that focus, combined with
neglect in areas they could do something about, causes their Circle of
Influence to shrink.
As
long as we focus in our Circle of Concern, we empower the things within it to
control us. We aren't taking the proactive initiative necessary to effect
positive change."

Trigger Mechanisms and Internal
States
Trigger Mechanisms
A trigger mechanism can be a specific experience of any of the physical senses
that releases or activates a conditioned or predictable response. It could be
an image, sound, sensation, smell, or taste.
The most practical trigger mechanism is one that is subtle, so that you can use
it openly without attracting attention, and is slightly different than anything
else you do.
Trigger mechanisms are best used to access empowering thoughts, behaviors,
beliefs, resources, and feelings. They can easily be established or programmed
by the person desiring the benefits.
Before programming the trigger mechanism, select the word, gesture, or image
that will serve the purpose. A very popular trigger mechanism is one where the
fingers of either hand touch in a specific manner that is slightly different
than the usual, unnoticeable, and comfortable; such as the thumb and following
fingers touching.
The best and most effective time to program your trigger mechanism is during a
quiet meditation. Select the purpose for wanting to use the trigger mechanism
such as:
Desiring to be calm and in control during an upcoming stressful situation
Remembering information during a test
For attunement
Once you have selected a purpose for the trigger mechanism, enter a meditative
state, and when you are very relaxed, think of and imagine the upcoming
situation. Imagine the scene out and away from you as if projected on a Mental
Movie Screen. Then, imagine being in that situation in the exact manner you
desire to be; being at your best.
Bring back memories of when you have been at your best in similar situations.
Enhance those positive feelings; feelings of confidence, self-control, being
relaxed, being capable, and others. When you have the image and feelings of
yourself in that upcoming situation just right, step into the image. Once you
step into the image, experience it with full association, as if you were
actually there and at your very best. At that moment, put your finger(s) and
thumb together, and say to yourself mentally:
"Whenever I have a need or desire to feel this way, be this way, or think
this way, all I have to do is use my trigger, and it will be so."
Once you have locked in the desired response, you may count to yourself
mentally from 1 - 3, and open your eyes.
Whenever you need or desire to use your trigger mechanism, simply put your
finger(s) and thumb together and bring back the desired empowering thoughts,
behaviors, beliefs, resources and/or feelings.
TRIGGER MECHANISM FOR STUDYING AND TEST TAKING
Use your trigger mechanism while studying or listening to a lesson.
To program for this purpose simply enter your meditation and tell yourself
mentally,
"I am going to use my trigger mechanism any time I read or hear any
lesson from now on. I will have keen concentration and understanding."
I will close my eyes and identify the lesson before starting.
I will make mental pictures of the lesson whenever possible.
And I will remember the information in the lesson anytime in the future
with the use of my trigger mechanism."
Whenever you need to remember the lesson, such as when taking a test, put your
fingers together, take a deep breath, relax, and mentally tell yourself,
"The information for this test will come to me freely and easily."
Read the test questions and answer all questions you know the answers to. If
you do not have the answer, then, skip that question and move on to the next
one.
Next, go back to the unanswered questions, take a deep breath, relax, and read
the questions. Take a little more time on the questions. Let the answers come
to you and write them down.
If there is still a question left unanswered, read the unanswered question,
close your eyes, and mentally ask someone who knows the answer for the
information. Clear your mind for a moment by thinking of something unrelated
and start figuring out the answer. Write down the answer that comes. In most
cases it is better to answer all the questions than to leave them unanswered.
Remember, by identifying the lesson beforehand, making mental pictures as you
learn, and programming the use of the trigger mechanism for learning and
recall, you have made very strong impressions on brain cells. Strongly
impressed information leads to easier recall.
TRIGGER MECHANISM FOR ATTUNEMENT
Your can always program your trigger mechanism so as to be more attuned to any
person, place, or thing. This will allow for you to have heightened sensitivity
to that person, place, or thing.
This application is ideal for locating lost items. Before programming the
trigger mechanism for locating a lost item, hold another item of similar makeup
in your hand, (for example, a key) and enter your meditation. Put your fingers
and thumb together during the meditation, and mentally say to yourself.
"I am going to become highly sensitive to the keys I have misplaced. They
are and feel similar to the key I am now holding. I will allow the misplaced
keys to draw me towards them. I will be sensitive to them and to where they are
placed."
Bring yourself out of the meditation, and in a very relaxed manner and using
your trigger mechanism, walk around in the area where you think the keys were
misplaced, and let them draw you towards them.
FOR GENERAL USE
Your trigger mechanism can be used at any time during your day when you desire
to be more calm, receptive, and in control. It helps you to think more clearly,
helping you to solve problems more effectively. Having a clear understanding
with yourself that you are going to use it for that purpose is all you need in
order to get the benefits.
Your trigger mechanism can truly make your life easier and more enjoyable.
